We are looking as of October for a highly motivated student (m/f/d), who has a profound knowledge and is passionate about simulation. What does the role involve?

During your thesis you are part of the simulation team and you will help on the further development of our simulation models. The goal of the thesis is the further development of a cutting force model, which is implemented in a multibodysimulation model. The cutting force model describes the cutting process with its’ dynamics and considers the influences of the cut materials and the cutting geometry of the used insert. You will validate the cutting force model by measurement data. After the first validation you will implement the model in a multibodysimulation model of a power tool as a submodel. Based on additional measurement data you will validate the full power tool model together with the implemented cutting force model. In the end you will perform parameter studies to analyse the influence of the system parameters on the dynamics of the full power tool model.

What you need is:

  • Enrolled in a master’s study for mechanical engineering or a comparable course
  • Knowledge in the field of mechanics
  • Basic knowledge in the fields of manufacturing technology and vibration technology advantageous
  • Programming skills in Matlab, C/C++ or comparable program
  • Structured and independent way of working
  • Team orientation and strong communication skills
