What's the role?

The position is limited for 24 months – a possible permanent contract depends on the business development.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team you work closely with developers and product managers to design and implement innovative solutions to our customers’ needs. You develop novel concepts and drive their optimization until series-production readiness strongly contributing to further differentiate our tools from the competition. You specify system requirements for the drive system, which contains mechanical design, electronics and firmware. You define tests, work packages, and coordinate internal as well as external partners from drive system perspective. You are embedded in an industry-leading global engineering team to which you contribute with your broad system competency, especially in electronic design.

What does the role involve?

You are the technical leader of the whole drive system in one or more battery driven power tool development projects. You work in the electronics development team and take over the major part in defining the electronic solution, while acting as interface to various internal and external stakeholders/business partners, especially from the software development and mechanical design group. You collectively gather feature requirements and are responsible for building the long-term feature-roadmap of the respective cordless drive platform. Together with the technical experts you transform the feature-roadmap in to technical requirements for the development teams. You also communicate the define roadmap to the business partners and you are responsible for the effective implementation. You are responsible for the timeline of the drive development project and make sure, that your team delivers with a competitive price.

What you need is:

  • Completed degree in Electrical engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics or equivalent fields
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in designing and implementing electronic hardware
  • Experience designing motor drives is a plus
  • first experience in technical project management or product ownership is favourable
  • Understanding typical embedded systems and platforms
  • Experience with off-shore development (especially Asia) and intercultural collaboration is a plus
  • Strong analytical skills and high affinity to drive innovative ideas
  • High personal standard of performance and drive for result
  • Strong communication skills in English, German will be an asset
